If energy conservation, your health and reduced energy bills are not enough reason to upgrade the efficiency standards of your home, now the federal government has provided another incentive to take charge of the home improvement projects you may have been putting off.
On August 8, 2005, President George Bush approved The Energy Policy Act (EPACT), which offers consumers and businesses federal tax credits towards the purchase of hybrid-electric vehicles and energy efficient appliances and products. These products include energy-efficient windows, insulation, heating and cooling equipment, doors and roofs. Radiant Barriers, dishwashers, clothes washers, refrigerators and skylights are some of the other purchases which qualify under EPACT.

The Energy Policy Act also states that some consumers may be eligible for utility or state rebates, along with state incentives for energy efficient homes, vehicles and other equipment.
